The Rules
- Sip — Lava flow advances down a Los Angeles surface street between recognizable city blocks
- Sip — Mike Roark defies evacuation orders and puts himself in the eruption zone
- Sip — Dr. Amy Barnes correctly predicts a volcanic event that officials dismiss
- Sip — The LAFD firefighting team attempts to redirect or slow lava with limited success
- Sip — Mike Roark's daughter Kelly appears in a dangerous zone despite direct orders to stay back
- Drink Twice — The Wilshire subway tunnel floods or fills with lava during an evacuation attempt
- Drink Twice — A firefighter makes a fatal self-sacrifice to redirect lava flow
- Drink Twice — A news helicopter or emergency vehicle is destroyed by a lava bomb
- Shot — Roark uses concrete barriers from the Metro project to channel lava into the ocean
- Shot — The La Brea Tar Pits reveal the original source vent for the Los Angeles eruption
- Chug — The firefighter deliberately stands in lava to throw a colleague to safety before sinking
Themed Cocktail
Lava Flow LA
Ingredients:
- 2 oz dark rum
- 1 oz coconut cream
- 0.75 oz fresh pineapple juice
- 0.5 oz fresh lime juice
- 0.75 oz strawberry puree
- 0.25 oz grenadine
Instructions:
- 1Blend rum, coconut cream, pineapple juice, and lime juice with 1 cup of ice until smooth.
- 2Pour the mixture into a hurricane glass.
- 3Combine strawberry puree and grenadine in a separate small container.
- 4Slowly pour the strawberry-grenadine mixture down the inside of the glass to create a lava effect.
- 5Garnish with a pineapple wedge and a cherry on the rim — no stirring, the visual is the point.
