The Rules
- Sip — Black Phillip the goat stares directly into the camera or at a character
- Sip — William or Katherine invoke God or scripture to explain the family's misfortune
- Sip — Thomasin is accused of witchcraft by another family member
- Sip — baby Samuel disappears from Thomasin's arms in the forest clearing
- Sip — the twins Mercy and Jonas speak in unison or claim to speak to Black Phillip
- Drink Twice — Caleb becomes feverish and speaks in tongues after entering the woods
- Drink Twice — the red-cloaked witch figure appears in the deep forest at night
- Drink Twice — William's crops fail or his trap catches nothing in the forest
- Shot — Caleb dies convulsing after kissing the witch in the forest and coughing up an apple
- Shot — Katherine tries to drown Thomasin believing she is the witch killing the family
- Chug — Black Phillip speaks in a deep voice and asks 'Wouldst thou like to live deliciously?'
Themed Cocktail
Black Phillip's Bargain
Ingredients:
- 2 oz mezcal
- 0.5 oz Fernet-Branca
- 0.75 oz fresh lemon juice
- 0.5 oz blackberry syrup
- 2 dashes walnut bitters
- 1 fresh blackberry (garnish)
Instructions:
- 1Combine mezcal, Fernet-Branca, lemon juice, blackberry syrup, and walnut bitters in a shaker with ice.
- 2Shake hard for 12 seconds and double strain into a chilled coupe glass.
- 3Do not garnish with anything flamboyant — set a single fresh blackberry on the rim.
- 4Serve in near darkness for full effect.
