The Rules
- Sip — Margaret Tate barks a command at Andrew Paxton without looking up
- Sip — the immigration officer Kevin O'Malley looks openly suspicious of them
- Sip — Andrew's father Joe passive-aggressively undermines Margaret
- Sip — Grandma Annie pulls a move wildly unexpected for her age
- Sip — Margaret is visibly out of place doing any rural Alaskan activity
- Drink Twice — Margaret and Andrew are caught in a lie by Officer O'Malley
- Drink Twice — Margaret encounters the pet eagle and loses composure entirely
- Drink Twice — Grandma Annie performs a ritual or ceremony in the wilderness
- Shot — Andrew confronts his father Joe about his controlling behavior
- Shot — Margaret confesses to the immigration officer that the engagement is fake
- Chug — Andrew runs through the Sitka airport to stop Margaret from leaving
Themed Cocktail
Sitka Spruce Mule
Ingredients:
- 1.5 oz Alaskan-style aquavit or rye whiskey
- 0.75 oz fresh lime juice
- 0.5 oz honey syrup
- 0.5 oz fresh ginger juice
- 4 oz ginger beer
- 1 tsp Angostura bitters
Instructions:
- 1Fill a copper mule mug with crushed ice
- 2Combine aquavit or rye, lime juice, honey syrup, and fresh ginger juice over ice
- 3Stir vigorously for 15 seconds to chill and combine
- 4Top with ginger beer and add Angostura bitters on top — do not stir again
- 5The ginger and honey should give a clean, cold, slightly medicinal finish
- 6Garnish with a lime wheel and a small sprig of fresh spruce or rosemary
