The Rules

  • Sip — The alien pegs grid attack deploys in a pattern that looks exactly like the board game
  • Sip — Alex Hopper makes an impulsive decision that his superior immediately countermands
  • Sip — Stone Hopper calls Alex out for being reckless, immature, or plain wrong about something
  • Sip — A battleship or naval vessel is visibly destroyed or disabled by alien weapon fire
  • Sip — The alien force field dome seals over the Pacific battle zone — radar goes black
  • Drink Twice — The decommissioned USS Missouri is crewed by real-life Navy veterans to fight the aliens
  • Drink Twice — The aliens' ship uses the targeting peg attack to systematically destroy grid squares
  • Drink Twice — Rihanna's Chief Petty Officer Raikes fires a weapon and delivers a one-liner
  • Shot — The Missouri fires its sixteen-inch guns for the first time and the ship shudders with the recoil
  • Shot — Alex Hopper uses the buoy field pattern to track the alien ships without radar — Battleship rules
  • Chug — The alien mothership is destroyed by the Missouri's broadside — 'You're all gonna die up there' — 'Mahalo, motherf—'

Themed Cocktail

Missouri Broadside

Ingredients:

  • 1.5 oz bourbon
  • 0.75 oz fresh lemon juice
  • 0.5 oz honey syrup
  • 0.5 oz ginger liqueur
  • 3 dashes Peychaud's bitters
  • 1 oz ginger beer

Instructions:

  1. 1Combine bourbon, lemon juice, honey syrup, ginger liqueur, and bitters in a shaker with ice.
  2. 2Shake for 12 seconds and strain into a highball glass over fresh ice.
  3. 3Top with ginger beer and stir once.
  4. 4Garnish with a candied ginger piece on a pick and a lemon twist. Place four peg-shaped pretzel sticks in the glass arranged in a grid.
