The Rules
- Sip — Billy Costigan and Colin Sullivan are shown in parallel situations on opposite sides
- Sip — Frank Costello delivers a monologue about rats, power, or the nature of Boston
- Sip — The mole within the police or mob is nearly identified and barely escapes exposure
- Sip — Madolyn is counseling one of the two leads without knowing both are her patients
- Sip — The South Boston neighborhood is used as a character — location, accent, loyalty
- Drink Twice — Queenan or Dignam meet Costigan in a parking garage for a covert update
- Drink Twice — A Rolling Stones song kicks in on the soundtrack at a moment of moral collapse
- Drink Twice — Colin Sullivan updates Frank while simultaneously being investigated by his own unit
- Shot — A major named character is shot dead with no cinematic warning
- Shot — The rat's identity is confirmed by another character in direct confrontation
- Chug — Costigan is shot in the head in the elevator and Sullivan executes everyone in the building
Themed Cocktail
The South Boston Rat
Ingredients:
- 1.5 oz Irish whiskey
- 0.5 oz Amaro Nonino
- 0.5 oz fresh lemon juice
- 0.25 oz honey syrup
- 2 dashes Angostura bitters
- Lemon peel for garnish
Instructions:
- 1Combine Irish whiskey, Amaro Nonino, lemon juice, honey syrup, and bitters in a shaker with ice.
- 2Shake for 12 seconds and strain into a rocks glass over one large ice cube.
- 3Express a lemon peel over the surface and drop it in.
- 4Serve immediately.
