The Rules
- Sip — Lucius is forced to fight in the Colosseum and survives against unfair odds
- Sip — Emperor Caracalla or Geta makes a decree that is gratuitously cruel to Roman citizens
- Sip — Macrinus manipulates a gladiator match outcome from his box in the arena
- Sip — Lucius has a vision or flashback to his mother Lucilla or grandfather Marcus Aurelius
- Sip — An exotic animal is released into the Colosseum floor as part of a spectacle
- Drink Twice — Lucius discovers or confirms his true identity as the son of Maximus
- Drink Twice — Macrinus's political double-cross advances a step closer to seizing real power
- Drink Twice — The crowd in the Colosseum turns against the emperors during a staged event
- Shot — Lucius fights a shark or baboon in the flooded Colosseum arena
- Shot — Lucius kills a major antagonist in the arena to the roar of the Roman crowd
- Chug — Lucius addresses the Roman Senate or army with a speech echoing Maximus's legacy
Themed Cocktail
Roman Gladius
Ingredients:
- 2 oz grappa
- 0.5 oz sweet vermouth
- 0.5 oz fresh blood orange juice
- 0.25 oz honey syrup
- 2 dashes Angostura bitters
Instructions:
- 1Combine all ingredients in a mixing glass with ice.
- 2Stir for 25 seconds until chilled.
- 3Strain into a rocks glass over a large ice cube.
- 4Express a blood orange peel over the glass and place on the rim.
- 5Garnish and serve.
