The Rules

  • Sip — Dracula introduces himself to Renfield in the great hall of Castle Dracula
  • Sip — Renfield laughs maniacally and eats a spider or fly while the asylum staff watches
  • Sip — Dracula stands in shadow with his cape and simply stares at someone for too long
  • Sip — Van Helsing identifies something impossible and states it as scientific fact
  • Sip — Mina has a trance episode and Lucy or Jonathan doesn't understand what's happening
  • Drink Twice — Dracula's reflection is missing from a mirror and someone finally notices
  • Drink Twice — Van Helsing and Dracula exchange words and neither blinks
  • Drink Twice — Renfield escapes the sanitarium and leads Seward's men on a chase through the dark
  • Shot — Dracula says 'I never drink — wine' with perfect deliberate menace
  • Shot — The stake goes through Dracula and Renfield's scream echoes through Carfax Abbey
  • Chug — Dracula's coffin is opened at dawn and Van Helsing completes the ritual

Themed Cocktail

Count's Claret

Ingredients:

  • 4 oz dry red wine
  • 0.5 oz ruby port
  • 0.5 oz fresh blood orange juice
  • 0.25 oz simple syrup
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 2 whole cloves

Instructions:

  1. 1Gently warm the red wine, port, cinnamon stick, and cloves in a small saucepan over low heat.
  2. 2Do not boil — heat until steam rises, about 5 minutes.
  3. 3Remove from heat and add blood orange juice and simple syrup.
  4. 4Strain into a red wine glass.
  5. 5Serve in near darkness.
