Upside Down Margarita

Ingredients

• 1.5 oz mezcal
• 0.75 oz fresh lime juice
• 0.5 oz hibiscus syrup
• 0.25 oz black cherry liqueur
• 1 tsp activated charcoal sugar for rim
• 0.5 oz sparkling water

Instructions

1. 1Rim a rocks glass with activated charcoal sugar mixed with regular sugar.
2. 2Combine mezcal, lime juice, hibiscus syrup, and cherry liqueur in a shaker with ice.
3. 3Shake for 12 seconds — the hibiscus should make this a deep red-purple.
4. 4Strain over fresh ice in the rimmed glass.
5. 5Float sparkling water on top and serve before the colors muddle — the Upside Down looks better dark.
