10 Best 90s Movie Drinking Games (Rewind Required)

Screen Sips

Somewhere between your third rewatch of Clueless and that time you accidentally memorized every word of She's All That, you realized something. These movies never actually left. They just waited for you to come back with better taste in drinks.

We built drinking games for the movies that shaped your entire personality between 1992 and 2001. The ones you quoted at lunch. The ones you recorded off cable onto a VHS that still exists somewhere in your parents' house. Ten films. Ten games. Ten cocktails that are way better than whatever you were sneaking in high school.

Here are the best 90s movie drinking games on the site.

1. Dazed and Confused (1993)

The last day of school in 1976, and every single person in this movie is cooler than you will ever be. The drinking game tracks Slater's stoner philosophy, the freshman hazing paddle, Wooderson being way too old to be there, and every time someone lights up. The sip rules fire constantly because this movie is basically one long hang. The Moon Tower party is where the game peaks. Alright, alright, alright.

The Moon Tower Mule is ginger beer and bourbon with lime. Easy to make, easy to drink, fits the vibe of standing in a field at midnight pretending you're not nervous.

2. American Pie (1999)

You remember exactly where you were the first time you watched this. The drinking game is built around Jim's escalating disasters, Stifler's party energy, and the band camp references that never stop. Every time Jim's dad walks in at the worst possible moment is a drink-twice that hits harder now than it did in '99. The pie scene is the chug. Obviously.

Stifler's Mom is a cocktail name we didn't have to think about for very long. It's bourbon, cherry, and a little heat. Confident. Slightly dangerous. You know the type.

3. Legally Blonde (2001)

Elle Woods walked into Harvard Law in head-to-toe pink and nobody has recovered since. The drinking game tracks every outfit change, every bend and snap reference, every time someone underestimates her and regrets it. Warner being the worst is a sip rule that fires more often than you'd expect. Bruiser Woods appearing on screen is a sip that keeps the whole room smiling.

The Bend and Snap is pink, obviously. We wouldn't do Elle dirty like that.

4. 10 Things I Hate About You (1999)

Heath Ledger singing on the bleachers is the shot that makes everyone in the room go quiet for a second. The game tracks Kat's hostility, Patrick's slow-burn charm, the paintball date, and every time someone at Padua High does something that would get them expelled immediately. It's Shakespeare filtered through a 90s teen movie and somehow both versions are perfect.

The Kat Stratford cocktail is sharp, a little bitter, and wins you over by the end. Sounds about right.

5. Bring It On (2000)

Cheerleading, stolen routines, and Gabrielle Union being the best thing in every scene she's in. The game fires on spirit fingers, cheer sequences, Torrance's guilt spirals, and the rivalry between the Toros and the Clovers. The national competition finale is where the game stacks. You will be chanting along. Don't fight it.

The Isis is the cocktail, named after the squad that should've won every year before this one.

6. The Sandlot (1993)

You're killing me, Smalls. That's a sip. Ham Porter trash-talking is a sip. Squints at the pool is a sip. The Beast chasing them through the neighborhood is where the game escalates into drink-twice territory, and Benny "The Jet" Rodriguez outrunning the dog is the shot that brings the house down. This is the baseball movie for people who don't care about baseball.

Ham Porter's Pickle Juice Sour is exactly what it sounds like and somehow it works.

7. Space Jam (1996)

Michael Jordan plays basketball with Bugs Bunny. That sentence alone justifies a drinking game. The sip rules track the Monstars stealing talent, Bill Murray showing up for no reason, and every time the Looney Tunes do something that would kill a normal person. The game is ridiculous because the movie is ridiculous. The halftime scene is a drink-twice. The final dunk is the chug.

The Tune Squad Slam is bright, fizzy, and refuses to take itself seriously.

8. Cool Runnings (1993)

Four Jamaican bobsledders at the Winter Olympics. Based on a true story that's already incredible, and the movie somehow makes it better. The game tracks the rhythm-and-rhyme chant, Sanka's lucky egg, and every time someone doubts them. The final run where the sled crashes and they carry it across the finish line is a chug that will get the whole room standing.

The Jamaican Bobsled cocktail is rum, tropical, and cold enough to make you believe in winter.

9. Jumanji (1995)

Robin Williams trapped in a board game for 26 years, and every roll of the dice makes the real world worse. The sip rules fire on every new jungle creature, every earthquake, every time Alan Parrish looks like he's seen too much. The game escalates exactly like the movie does. Slow at first, then suddenly there are monkeys in the kitchen and a hunter in the living room. The final roll is the chug.

Brantford Jungle Juice is green, tropical, and a little wild. Robin would approve.

10. The Mighty Ducks (1992)

Gordon Bombay coaches a pee-wee hockey team and somehow it's one of the most rewatchable sports movies ever made. The game tracks the Flying V formation, every Goldberg save attempt, Banks switching teams, and the slow transformation from District 5 losers to actual champions. The quack chant building in the stands is the chug that closes the movie.

The Flying V Freeze is cold, sharp, and hits harder than it looks.

How to Run a 90s Marathon

Pick three. That's a Friday night. Here are our suggested lineups:

The Sports Night: The Mighty Ducks + The Sandlot + Cool Runnings. Zero overlap in sport, maximum overlap in heart. You'll be emotional by Cool Runnings.

The High School Reunion: 10 Things I Hate About You + Bring It On + Legally Blonde. Teen angst, cheer squads, and law school. The cocktails get progressively pinker.

The Hangout: Dazed and Confused + American Pie + Space Jam. No theme. No logic. Just vibes. Perfect for a group that can't agree on anything.
